Yadon named to fill Talkeetna librarian position
by Sue Deyoe ~ June 6th, 2009
Talkeetna has a new librarian. After a long selection process by the Mat Su Borough, local resident Ann Yadon has been selected as the person to replace long time librarian Patty Christiansen, who resigned in April.
Borough library service manager Dan Keyes says the Talkeetna public library is in great hands and Yadon is extremely qualified.
He said the entire process was difficult, as 8 highly qualified people made the top cut. He is not sure how many people originally applied for the job, but the top 8 were then cut to 4 individuals. One person wasn’t available until fall and fell off the list. Another person seriously considered the position and then said no thanks.
Keyes said he was glad to get so many highly qualified individuals applying for the job.
Yadon has had a permanent part time position at the library since 2003, but has served in other capacities since 1995. She has been active in the community for years. Yadon says she is very much looking forward to the challenge of keeping up the good service to community. Her biggest challenge in the beginning could be staffing. There is currently an on-call pool of only 2 people. That’s not enough, she says. Her part time permanent position is now open and the Borough will be looking to fill that position as soon as possible.
