Temporary open burn suspension in place

The Division of Forestry issued a temporary suspension of all open burn permits today. Use of burn barrels is banned during this time.
Fire danger is high in the Mat Su and Upper Susitna Valleys. The agency is discouraging the use of cooking and camp fires at this time as well. Residents should be extra cautious and make sure all fires are completely extinguished before they leave the scene.
