The filing period for candidates in the October election is fast coming to a close.  The deadline for the filing period is tomorrow  at 5 p.m.

Currently, no one is challenging current Borough mayor Talis Colberg, who is running for a 3 year term.

The Borough Assembly seat for district 7, which represents Meadow Lakes all the way past Denali State Park, including Talkeetna and Trapper Creek, has two candidates.  The two men, Vern Halter and Doyle Holmes, are both from Willow.  Tom Kluberton, the current Assembly member holding seat 7, has stated he will not run for a second term.

Voters will go to the polls October 6^th to decide on the mayor, Assembly members and School Board seats.  The upper valley school board seat is currently filled by Myrl Boone Thompson.  His term is up in 2010.
