Accident on Parks Highway injures Trapper Creek woman
by Diana Haecker ~ October 28th, 2009
On Tuesday night, a single car accident on the Parks Highway resulted in an injured driver and a totaled truck.
Troopers report that Mary Wilson, 56, of Trapper Creek drove south on the Parks Highway Tuesday night when her 1999 Toyota Tacoma hit a patch of black ice near mile 84.
Wilson lost control of the vehicle. It hit the ditch and rolled multiple times off the side of the road. Trooper Sergeant Jacob Covey said a passerby made the 911 call and troopers and Willow EMS paramedics responded to the scene around 8 pm. Wilson was taken to the Mat-Su Regional hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries. Troopers say she was buckled up in her seat belt. The vehicle is a total loss.
This is the third reported vehicle accident due to icy roads within a week. Sergeant Covey reminds drivers to be safe and slow down in slick and icy road conditions on the highway.
