Part of Denali State Park closed to snowmachines due to lack of snow cover

Lack of snow this winter and recent winds are creating poor conditions for snowmachining in Denali State Park.

This week, State Park officials have closed off another section of Denali State Park to off-road motorized traffic.  The Peters Hills area, above three thousand feet, at the west end of the state park, is now closed to snowmachines.  Closures are still in effect for Curry and Kesugi Ridges.

State Park officials ask riders to avoid windblown areas and caution that overflow is present on most lakes.  The closed areas will re-open if adequate snow falls to protect the fragile alpine vegetation.
