The Mat Su School Board met over the weekend to discuss and decide on the next superintendent of schools. The decision was unanimous – Dr. Kenneth Burnley from Michigan.
Burnley is a Senior Resident Fellow at the University of Michigan. He has held the superintendent position at three different schools over a 24 year period. He was superintendent of Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Colorado Springs School District and Detroit Public Schools.
Catherine Esray, in a press release, stated that Burnley will be visiting schools and learning about the District, AND if a contract is signed, he will start July 1st.
Superintendent George Troxel is retiring. His last day is June 30th.
