SMAP comment period extended and meeting planned

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has revised the state land use plan for over 9 million acres of state land in the Susitna and Matanuska river valleys. At the request of Senator Huggins, Representative Stoltze and Representative Neuman a public meeting will be held on Monday, May 3 from 6-9 pm at the Mat-Su Legislative Information Office in Wasilla at 600 E. Railroad Ave. Following a presentation on the draft plan there will be an opportunity for the public to comment on the plan.
A public review draft of the Susitna Matanuska Area Plan (SMAP) was initially released in February with a comment period ending May 5. The comment period is now being extended with comments being accepted until June 4, 2010.
The draft plan, maps and other information can be found on the Internet at: http://dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/planning or at local libraries, DNRâs Public Information Center at 550 W 7th Ave. in Anchorage, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough office at 350 E Dahlia Ave. in Palmer, or by request using the contact information listed below. To receive full consideration comments must be received by DNR before 5:00 pm on June 4, 2010 at:
