On Sunday, a recreational boater found a body at the mouth of the Susitna River.Alaska State Troopers responded and took a boat to the scene to recover the body from the water. Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said that the remains were taken to the medical examiner for identification and to determine the cause of death.
Two persons have disappeared into the Susitna River in the past year.
A 51-year old snow machiner from Houston broke through the ice near Deshka Landing in March and has not been found yet.
During the Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival in July, 22-year-old Jacob Larson of Nikiski jumped off the railroad trestle spanning the Talkeetna River near its confluence with the Susitna River. Larson has been missing ever since.
