DENALI PARK – John MacGregor, 54, from Jasper, Ga walked into Toklat Road Camp today after crews had been searching for over 2 days. He is uninjured but cold, according to the National Park Service.
The camp is at milepost 53 of the Park Road, about 13 road miles from where he started his journey on Sunday. Employees are warming him up and giving him food and will transport him back to the Park entrance. Park spokeswoman, Kris Fister, said “Its nice to have a happy ending.”
Rangers will be interviewing MacGregor to see what took place since he left Eielson Visitor Center for a day hike on Sunday.
The weather Sunday afternoon and evening was cold, rainy and sleeting in some areas. Weather since that time has been sunny and cloudy, day time highs in the 60s and nighttime temperatures in the mid 30s and low 40s.
