The Alaska Redistricting Board has hired an Anchorage attorney as their Executive Director. Ron Miller previously served the State of Alaska as Executive Director os the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority – AIDEA– and the Alaska Energy Authority.
Board Chairman John Torgerson said through a press release that the redistricting board has a lot to do in a short period of time. They expect to receive census data from the government by April 1st of 2011. The state constitution requires the state adopt a final redistricting plan with 90 days of receiving the data, which means a final plan complete no later than the end of June 2011.
Miller’s job will be to guide the Board through the process.
