Susitna Valley Voice – Pesticide Rule Change
by Lorien Nettleton ~ July 12th, 2012
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has proposed eliminating the Public Comment process for applications to spray chemicals on State-owned lands. The DEC says this step will simplify the process of awarding permits to spray pesticides and herbicides under EPA guidelines.
But is removing the ability of the public to comment in the best interest of the citizens?
Pesticide regulations and the proposed rule change are the topic on this edition of Susitna Valley Voice, with guests Becky Long and John Strasenburgh.
