The Jessica Stevens Community Foundation has announced the recipients of their community improvement grants.
After receiving a lot of community support, a larger total sum was given out this year, totaling $6,000.
Among the highlights of grant recipients include a grant to Cook Inlet Keeper, who will come to town to do water testing. Other organizations awarded grants include The Upper Susitna Senior Center, the Talkeetna Historical Society received a grant to assist with Belle’s Barn interpretive trail, the Denali Arts Council got a grant for youth art opportunities. Sunshine Transit received a grant for mobility operations, the Upper Susitna Soil and Water Conservation District received funding for the Youth Conservation Corps. The northern Susitna Institute was given a grant to publish their 2013 catalog, and the Friends of the Talkeetna Library received a grant in support of constructing a new library and community center.
