AVO dials volcano alert down to yellow

The Alaska Volcano Observatory has lowered the status of Mount Redoubt from Orange to Yellow.

They are no longer posting information every two hours.

The volcano remains restless with abnormally high emission rates and melting of the summit glacier. However, the observatory officials say the unrest could persist for many months or even a year or more and still not lead to an eruption.  The unrest could also shift back into an eruptive period without much notice.

The observatory will continue monitoring Redoubt on a daily basis.
