The Su Valley girls finished up the cross-country track season at the 1, 2 and 3A state cross country championships in Anchorage this past weekend.
Ayla Loper, a freshman, is the star to watch next year at Su Valley. Loper ran a respectable time of 23:14 and finished in 33rd place out of 100 runners in the 5 K girls race. Her teammates had respectable times as well. Sabrina Jurasek and Rachel Wagner placed 54th and 99th in the competition.
Kailey Wilson of Kenny Lake won the event with a time of 19: 54 . Wilson has taken the title for 3 years in a row. She’ll be a senior next year. Only two other girls in history have won the title all 4 of their high school years.
Congratulations to the Su Valley girls on their efforts at the state championships!
