Talkeetna performance poet Ellen Thea
reads her poems Seussified and Gaia’s Psalm.
She is accompanied by Dennis Ransy on percussion.
Hippie Chick One said to Hippie Chick Two,
“It’s really amazing; it’s all coming true.
The peace and the love,
the things that we taught.
Everything’s happening just as it ought.”
(right on)
Hippie Chick Two said to Hippie Chick One,
“Of course it’s been done, once it’s begun.
All the wishes and thoughts, thoughts and the wishes,
Everything’s happening; it’s just so delicious.”
(yeah)
Hippie Chick Three entered the scene.
She looked all around and said
“Man, what a be! The peace and the love,
the love and the peace, then there’s the light,
this is just so neat!”
And each one in their way,
each girl and each boy,
anchored the light that gave them such joy.
Her children all dancing around at her feet,
Great Mother’s unveiled
and all is complete.
Seussified, by Ellen Thea
Gaia’s Psalm
fingers tap, tap, tabla, tala, raga, mama, mama, beat, beat,
pulse drum heart beat, beat, barefoot heart beat, beat,
fingers dance over skin, cured
taught, remember, remember, remember
forgotten goddess rhythms
ancient earth.
Gaia’s psalm beats within
my breasts, hips, thighs
spread as hummingbird wings pulse infinity,
pulse eternity,
now, now, now is the drum,
now, now, now, is the beat between heartbeats.
Now, now, now is the moment between
in and release, exhale,
I feel vibrations through my feet,
through pulse fingers,
through pulse fingers,
DNA encoded
the beat is in my fingertips,
the beat is in my blood,
my palm drums Gaia’s psalm.
