A head-on collision on the Parks Highway has left one person dead and multiple others hospitalized.
Alaska State Troopers first received word of the crash just before noon on Tuesday. An ambulance happened to drive by the scene near Mile 63 and its crew began giving aid.
Troopers say a pickup truck traveling north on the highway collided with a sedan headed south. The pick-up was driven by an unidentified male with two child passengers in the back seat. The sedan was driven by an unidentified woman with an unidentified male passenger.
Both occupants of the sedan were trapped in their vehicle as a result of the crash, and the male passenger died at the scene. The female driver was taken by helicopter to the hospital. All three occupants of the pickup were taken by ground ambulance.
The crash shut down the Parks Highway for much of Tuesday afternoon.
