At last week’s Mat-Su Borough press conference, most of the news centered on COVID-19. At the conclusion of the conference, Mayor Vern Halter made an announcement that would have made significant local headlines during normal news cycles.
“Our Borough Manager, John Moosey…is accepting a job as the manager of the City of Palmer. So he will give the borough two-months notice.”
Moosey has served nearly nine years as borough manager. His sixty-day means he will stay in the job through the borough’s budget process, which begins soon. After his departure, Deputy Manager George Hayes will assume borough manager duties on an interim basis.
No plans for finding Moosey’s permanent replacement have been announced.
