Trapper Creek Community Services Association recently released its Water Consumer Confidence Report. Contaminants were either not detectable or well under the maximum allowable level in every test performed.
The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) provides a schedule for testing, with some required monthly, some semi-annually, and some annual, depending on the contaminant. As a new water point, the well was tested frequently in the beginning months and continued to show very high quality each time.
E. coli and coliform will continue to be tested every month. Copper, lead, and volatile organic compounds are now tested annually, after showing very low levels in a series of initial tests. Synthetic organic compounds like those found in pesticides, radioactive compounds, and asbestos were not found so the water point received a waiver for testing. Arsenic levels remain very low and will not be retested for several years.
According to Paula Glenka with the TCCSA, the water point opened exactly two years ago on April 20th, 2021. Since that time, 213,850.78 gallons have been dispensed to residents. The full water consumer confidence report is available on the TCCSA website at trappercreek.org.
