Correction: The flood advisory for the Yentna and Skwentna Rivers has been replaced by a flood warning.
As of Tuesday morning, river levels in the Northern Valley have receded somewhat since Monday. According to gauges provided by the Alaska Pacific River Forecast Center, the Talkeetna River near Downtown has receded by about a foot, and the Susitna River at the Parks Highway south of Talkeetna has receded more than six inches.
The National Weather Service reports that areas along the Yentna and Skwentna Rivers saw water flowing over the banks at depths of up to three feet. Multiple cabins and lodges reported flooding.
A flood watch remains in effect for the Susitna Valley through Wednesday morning. The flood advisory for the Yentna and Skwentna Rivers has been replaced by a flood warning, which is in effect through 6:00 pm Wednesday.
