New toilets are just the beginning of renovations for Talkeetna Village Park.
While the new toilets are being installed, the grounds will be a construction zone. Brian Robison, a Mat-Su Borough Parks employee, says that will be the perfect time to make other changes the community wants.
Robison will be at Live at Five on Friday evening to gather community input on the future of the Park. He says the Borough would like to hear landscaping ideas, amenities, and goals for the space. Robison says the ideas will be incorporated into a master plan.
The new toilets will be a precast unit of three flushing stalls connected to the sewer system. They will be installed later in September after the last Live at Five event. The existing pit toilets will remain in operation until the new ones are functional. Robison says the pit toilets will then be refurbished and eventually installed at the Whigmi Trailhead.
