New flood advisory in effect for the Susitna Valley through Saturday morning

A new flood advisory has been issued for the Susitna Valley. A flood advisory is a step up from a flood watch, and is issued when some level of flooding is either imminent or already underway.

The new advisory is scheduled to remain in effect until 10:00 am Saturday.

Gauges monitored by the Alaska Pacific River Forecast Center show that both the Susitna and Talkeetna Rivers have risen significantly since Thursday. As of early Friday afternoon, the Talkeetna River was in Minor Flood stage, having risen almost two feet since Thursday afternoon.
