Christmas came early – or for a second time – when it was announced that over $10 in congressional appropriations are heading to the Northern Susitna Valley:
- just over $5 million to the Mat Su Borough to replace aged water pipes in Talkeetna
- $500,000 to the Talkeetna Historical Society to assist with their building renovations
- $5 million to the Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center to launch their long planned building improvements and expansion.
In this episode Kevin O’Connor, Executive Director of the Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center, discusses this latest funding development and talks about the organization overall. We learn how it fulfills its mission to “serve the communities of the Upper Susitna Valley with a focus on the needs and concerns of seniors and to provide a safe place where the community can come together for meetings, classes and special events..”
