The 2024 Competitive Bid Land Sale will be discussed at Tuesday’s Assembly meeting.
A parcel of land located on South Red Tail Road in Talkeetna is on the list. The remaining eight parcels are located in Willow near Nancy Lakes, some adjacent to existing recreational land. Several of these parcels also have road, section line, and public use easements through them.
The Talkeetna parcel is 17 acres and accessible by South Red Tail Road, its eastern boundary. The road is also a section line and the parcel does contain a 50-foot easement for it. The Susitna River and Alaska Railroad are the western boundary. Surrounding parcels are smaller lots and developed as residential properties.
Designated as General Purpose land by the Borough, all the lots may be used for a variety of purposes because of physical features, adjacent development, location, or size of the area. General purpose lands also may not lend themselves to more limited classification under other land designations.
The minimum bid for the Talkeetna parcel is 30,600 dollars. The parcel is not included in the Talkeetna Special Use District, or SPUD, which guides development in the area.
The Assembly discussed the Talkeetna and Willow parcels at an Assembly meeting in February. Several representatives from the Willow community spoke at the February meeting, prompting Assembly members to push the discussion to June 18th.
