Trapper Creek Rescue Now Staffed

Trapper Creek now has two first responders and a rescue truck for responding to emergencies in the area.

Talkeetna Fire Chief Eric Chappel says the new staff are part of Talkeetna Fire. But they live in Trapper Creek, responding to emergencies in the area. With two people assigned to the station, Chappel says response time will be faster.

Chappel says their main mission will be rescue, which is anything other than fire. This includes car accidents, flooding, plane crashes, off road incidents, and more. The Trapper Creek Volunteer Fire Department will still respond to fire emergencies in the area.

Chappel says the two first responders were trained over the summer and are now operating out of the Trapper Creek station off East Devonshire Drive.
