Some Talkeetna residents gather to protest President Donald Trump’s administration

On February 17th, a small crowd of Talkeetna residents marched down Main Street, equipped with chants and homemade signs, to protest President Donald Trump.

Many attendees voiced concern about the nation’s democracy calling to “keep the constitution intact for future generations.”

One protestor said she marched “for justice, democracy, and doing the right thing.” She added, “We’re not seeing it being done, so we’re speaking out.”

Another present marched in protest of the President’s executive orders. She said the executive orders “disproportionately hurt Alaskans.”

These protesters joined a nationwide Presidents Day Protest. The nationwide event was a coordinated effort to protest President Donald Trump’s executive orders, Elon Musk’s involvement in the federal government, and the administration’s push to reduce government spending which resulted in significant layoffs for the National Parks Service.
