Career Soup is a weekly watch party of Discover What You Were Born To Do, a 12-week course written by local executive career mentor, Shannon Post. Along with the watch party, there is a potluck and conversation. This course is tailored to those who may engage better in a group setting or need support figuring out the next step. The Denali Arts Council hosts several events on Friday as part of their annual Talkeetna Ice Festival. The Talkeetna Art Walk includes the Fiber Art exhibit at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar as well as featured artists at businesses in Talkeetna. Between 3 and 6pm, pick up an art passport and map at the Flying Squirrel Bakery and Cafe or at the Hangar and get it stamped on your art walk. From 6 to 7pm, there will be fire spinners outside the Hangar. The final event is a candlelight concert in the hangar with award-winning violinist Tim Kliphuis and jazz guitarist Jimmy Grant, performing Django Duets. |
5 events,The ice at Jack MacDonald Ice Rink at Talkeetna Elementary School will be getting significant repair and maintenance on Saturday, February 7th. Please be respectful of any posted signage and stay off the ice if it is not completely frozen. Skating and/or walking on unfrozen ice can damage it. The Talkeetna Ice Festival continues on Saturday, February 7th. The events include the ice carving competition in the park, races on Main Street and a chili cookoff. At 7pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar is the Northern Aspects Film Festival, showcasing the best independent ski and ride films of Alaska. The Friends of the Talkeetna Library host Take Your Child to the Library Day at the Talkeetna Public Library on Saturday, February 7th from 11am until 4pm. Kids can sign up for their own library card, learn how to use the library with a scavenger hunt, create a Valentine's craft, and do a science experiment that yields a sweet treat. Refreshments and snacks will be available. There is also be a book fair at the library through Saturday, a portion of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Talkeetna Library and towards the purchase of new material for the community. Denali Arts Council is offering an ice carving workshop with Professional Ice Sculptor, Tommy Salami. on Sunday, February 8th. In the workshop you will carve a 10lb block of ice into a masterpiece that you get to take home. Ice and tools will be provided. This workshop will be held outside at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, so dress warmly. There are 2 sessions to choose between: 11am-1pm and 2-4 pm. The Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts the annual Poker Ski, a 7.5ish mile ski from the Flying Squirrel Bakery and Cafe to Denali BrewPub, downtown. This ski begins at 12pm from the Flying Squirrel and is fun for all ages.

Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails (MUTT) and Denali Nordic Ski Club are hosting Love on the Loops, a combined human and dog powered relay race. The event is at Talkeetna Lakes Park off Comsat Rd. on February 14th, at noon, starting on X lake. Each relay loop is around 5 km and bib pick up is 11:20 am. 3 events,The Su Dog 300 mile Sled Dog Race is coming back for 2026 and volunteers are needed. The 300 mile race starts in Willow and does a large loop around the upper Susitna Valley connecting all the communities, including a brand new Talkeetna River checkpoint. The race takes place February 21st - 24th. Volunteering is family friendly and no experience is necessary. Any mobility/accessibility needs will be accommodated. Denali Arts Council hosts a stained glass workshop on Saturday, February 21st. This 6 hour workshop will be instructed by Debra Whaley, who has been a stained glass artist for 45 years. Participants will be able to choose between 5 different designs. All materials will be provided and participants will be able to take a completed stained glass project home. Along with the watch party, there is a potluck and conversation. This course is tailored to those who may engage better in a group setting or need support figuring out the next step. Denali Arts Council presents their annual fundraiser, Raising Spirits, on Saturday, February 28th from 4 to 7pm. This elegant event features artisan-crafted cocktails from five Alaskan distilleries, catered food, aerial performances, and a silent auction. Proceeds raised will support the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar and the Emmila A. Denny Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available at denaliartscouncil.org. Talkeetna Library hosts the Teen Page to Screen book club on Saturday, February 28th at 6pm. They are discussing the book; The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness and watching the movie based on this book; Chaos Walking. Snacks and treats will be served.
