Live at Five
Talkeetna Village ParkThe Denali Arts Council and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, an annual Summer Concert series beginning this Friday, May 17th. The weekly concerts are family-friendly and are every Friday from 5-7 pm at the Talkeetna Village Park. The concerts feature bands from Alaska and the lower 48. Emergency Preparedness Fair – CERT
Willow Community CenterThe Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors. Volunteer Trail Work Day
Talkeetna Ridge Trail, ComsatThere will be a volunteer work day on the Talkeetna Ridge Trail on Saturday, May 30 from 1-5pm. Volunteers will meet at the end of Comsat Road at 1pm. Closed-toed shoes and leather gloves are advised. Hand saws and loppers are needed if you have them. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaThe Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to transport students from the Talkeetna Elementary School. Permission slips are required. Weekly backpacks with breakfasts, lunches, and snacks will be available for pick up for anyone aged 18 and under. If you are unable to pick up your lunch on Thursday between noon and 1, please let the library know and they can hold them for you.
