2 events,Denali Arts Council's after school theater program, Made for the Stage, presents Dead Inside: A Zombie Guide to Using Your Brains, featuring three original plays – Your Own Drum, Not That Kind Of Scared, and Zombie/Normie. Performances are at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, March 27th and 28th and at 2pm on Sunday, March 29th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. More information and tickets can be found at denaliartscouncil.org. Each Sunday Talkeetna Elementary PTA hosts two Community Enrichment activities in Talkeetna Elementary School's gym. Beginner/Intermediate Pickleball is from 3-5:30 pm, followed by Pick-Up Basketball for teens and adults, 6th grade and up from 6-8 pm. The next sessions are on March 22nd. 2 events,The Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to pick up students at Talkeetna Elementary School and bring them to the library. Permission slips are required. 4 events,KTNA and Su Valley High School are collaborating to start a Radio Journalism Afterschool Club for the remainder of the school year. This Club is open to all Su Valley students, from middle to high school level. The Club will meet every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15pm at Su Valley High School beginning March 4th. Talkeetna Elementary PTA hosts Competitive Pickleball for knowledgeable players seeking competitive bouts from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 1st. Attendees will rotate through games of four players at a time, equipment is available if you do not have your own. Wednesday evening pickleball is held at Talkeetna Elementary School's gym, play will move outside to the hockey rink when weather and temperatures permit. The Talkeetna Community Council's Main Street Improvement Committee will meet on Wednesday, April 1st at 6:30 pm at the Denali Education Center. Trapper Creek Community Services Association hosts an Easter Egg Hunt with Games and Activities on Saturday, April 4th at the Trapper Creek Community Center, beginning at 11am. The Egg Hunts are scheduled by ages; children 4 and under from 11-11:30am, ages 5 to 8 from 11:45am to 12:15pm, ages 9-12 from 12:30-1pm, and ages 13+ from 1:15 to 1:45pm. Denali Arts Council hosts their monthly First Saturday Arts Show from 4 to 6pm on Saturday, April 4th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. This month Troy Smiley presents: Vessels and Luminaries — an exploration of woodturning that transforms raw material into works of illuminated art. Learn more at denaliartscouncil.org. Alaska Commission on Aging is hosting a public webinar with Social Security Administration Regional Public Affairs Specialist, Nathan Cole, on Social Security and Medicare at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesday, April 7th, beginning at 12pm. Following the webinar, Sean McPhilamy, a volunteer with the State of Alaska’s Medicare Information Office, will provide an overview on Medicare. After the general discussion, he will be available for one-on-one conversations as needed, until 3pm. If you have questions you need answered, you are welcome to email them ahead of time to doh.acoa.info@alaska.gov. 4 events,Denali Arts Council presents the Banff Mountain Film Festival on Friday and Saturday, April 10th and 11th, featuring a different series of films each night at Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The Friends of the Talkeetna Library host a computer class about Word processing on Friday, April 10th from 1 to 3pm at the Talkeetna Public Library. Talkeetna Library hosts the last Tween Page to Screen program for the season on Saturday, April 11th from 5-7pm. The book Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene will be discussed and then the movie will be compared to the book. Tweens ages 9-12 are welcome. Denali Arts Council hosts the Soggy Sneaker 5K Run as part of the Banff Film Festival festivities on Saturday, April 11th. The run starts at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar at 12pm, winding through some soggy spring snow along the Chase Trail, and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Denali Education Center and Jessica Stevens Community Foundation host their annual Earth Day Celebration and Nonprofit Fair on Saturday, April 18th from 11am until 3pm at Denali Education Center's Susitna Hall in Talkeetna. Featuring presentations on recycling and food waste, kids' activities and projects, and food.
