Sunshine Community Health Center is closed from 11am until 1pm on Wednesday, September 17th for staff training. This closure effects each location, in Willow and Talkeetna. The clinics return to normal operating hours at 1pm that day. More information at (907)733-2273.

Talkeetna Public Library hosts Storytime at 11:15am on Thursdays with a snack, stories and a craft. The theme this week is Lovely Birds. Everyone will also have the opportunity to make and add to their Bookworm. All ages are welcome. Make and Make craft bags will be available at the front entry for those unable to attend. Denali Education Center hosts Erica Watson, a Denali-based writer, with her presentation; Only a Visitor: Tourism and Home from Svalbard and Denali. Erica will share writing and reflections on tourism, sustainability, and belonging—drawing from twenty years of living at Denali National Park and an artist residency sailing in the High Arctic. This presentation is on Thursday, September 18th at the Susitna Hall in Talkeetna, beginning at 7pm.

On Friday, September 19th, Denali Arts Council is presenting emerging Alaskan voices. Six talented writers will share their work, from poetry to prose. Some are current University of Alaska creative writing students, others are published authors and former students now doing interesting things with their lives. Doors open at 7pm and the reading starts at 7:30pm.

The Mat-Su Borough hosts the 17th Annual Emergency Preparedness Expo on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Menard Sports Center, located at 1001 S Clapp Street, Wasilla. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and features over 90 indoor and outdoor exhibitors, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations focused on emergency readiness. Denali Education Center host Talkeetna Brewfest on Saturday, September 20th from 2 until 6pm. There will be breweries from across the state with an array of tasting opportunities, a large charcuterie table, and live music by Ukulele Russ. More information and tickets are available at denali.org.

Denali Arts Council hosts a concert with Last Train at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, September 20th. Last Train has been shaped by the musical journey of its members, with influences ranging from roots rock, pop, and country to punk. Doors open at 6pm and the music starts at 7pm. There is a Talkeetna Bachelor Society Round-Up and General Membership Meeting this Saturday, September 27th at the VFW at 6pm. Single men over 21 are invited to come learn about the organization and help plan this years Talkeetna Bachelor Auction & Ball.

As a part of the Denali Arts Council’s Performing Arts Season, they host a family-friendly action-comedy with Alex Zerbe the Zaniac, on Wednesday, October 1st at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The Jessica Stevens Community Foundation is hosting a community dance party on Friday, October 3rd. All are invited to a concert featuring the ska band Nervis Rex at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The doors open at 7:15 and the music starts at 7:30pm.

On Saturday, October 4th, Denali Arts Council hosts Arctic Entries at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Local storytellers will tell their true stories of small town secrets: Stories of Ghosts, Gatherings, and Good Times. The doors at 6:30pm, and the show at 7pm.

Denali Arts Council is hosting a mask making workshop at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, October 5th from 1pm to 4pm. All supplies will be provided.
