  • Winter Speaker Series – Elodea in Alaska – Susitna River Coalition

    The Susitna River Coalition hosts a Winter Speaker Series presentation on Elodea (uh-low-dee-uh) in Alaska on Wednesday, March 25th from 6 to 7pm via Zoom. Cody Jacobson of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources – Division of Agriculture will provide an overview of Elodea biology, documented locations in Alaska, and current efforts to control and contain the invasive aquatic plant. Information about potential habitat effects in river systems such as the Susitna drainage will also be discussed.

  • Ball in the House – Denali Arts Council

    The final performance for the Denali Arts Council's Performing Arts Season is the a cappella group Ball in the House on Wednesday, March 25th. Ball in the House is an R&B/Soul/Pop vocal band ​based out of Boston, whose high energy shows have audiences ​singing, dancing, even beatboxing along. Doors open at 6:30pm, music starts at 7pm.   • Made for the Stage – Dead Inside Performance – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council's after school theater program, Made for the Stage, presents Dead Inside: A Zombie Guide to Using Your Brains, featuring three original plays – Your Own Drum, Not That Kind Of Scared, and Zombie/Normie. Performances are at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, March 27th and 28th and at 2pm on Sunday, March 29th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.   • Teen Book to Movie – Talkeetna Library

    Talkeetna Library hosts their Teen Book to Movie program on Saturday, March 28th from 6 to 8pm. The movie this month is Stardust, based on the book by Neil Gaiman. Teens aged 13 to 18 are invited to discuss the book, enjoy the movie and share some pizza. This is the last one for the season.

  • Easter Egg Hunt and festivities – Upper Susitna Seniors

    The Upper Susitna Seniors are hosting an Easter egg hunt with egg dying, games and a cake walk on Saturday, April 4th from 10-11:30am at the Senior Center. All are welcome. Kids should bring a basket or bag for the hunt.

    Trapper Creek Community Services Association hosts an Easter Egg Hunt with Games and Activities on Saturday, April 4th at the Trapper Creek Community Center, beginning at 11am. The Egg Hunts are scheduled by ages; children 4 and under from 11-11:30am, ages 5 to 8 from 11:45am to 12:15pm, ages 9-12 from 12:30-1pm, and ages 13+ from 1:15 to 1:45pm.     Denali Arts Council hosts their last Arctic Entries storytelling event of the season at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, April 4th. The theme is Potholes and Promises, stories of bumps in the road, where they lead and how we kept going. Doors open at 6:30pm and stories start at 7.     Talkeetna Elementary PTA and Denali Arts Council host a self-paced Beginner's Ukulele Class, taught by  Danielle Aslanian, for grades K-5 on Mondays from 3:15 to 4:30pm at Talkeetna Elementary School.   • Social Security 101 Webinar – Alaska Commission on Aging

    Alaska Commission on Aging is hosting a public webinar with Social Security Administration Regional Public Affairs Specialist, Nathan Cole, on Social Security and Medicare at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesday, April 7th, beginning at 12pm. Following the webinar, Sean McPhilamy, a volunteer with the State of Alaska’s Medicare Information Office, will provide an overview on Medicare. After the general discussion, he will be available for one-on-one conversations as needed, until 3pm. If you have questions you need answered, you are welcome to email them ahead of time to doh.acoa.info@alaska.gov.
