Singing Zoologist Performance – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarDenali Arts Council hosts The Singing Zoologist at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, April 16th. The Singing Zoologist, Lucas Miller, blends music, puppets and projected videos to keep audiences laughing, moving, singing and learning. This show family-friendly show is suitable for all ages. There will be pizza available, by the slice until it runs out, to make this a dinner-and-a-show type of event. Doors open at 6:30pm, the performance starts at 7. Earth Day Celebration – Denali Education Center

Featuring presentations on recycling and food waste, kids' activities and projects, and food. DEA National Drug Take-Back Day – Matanuska-Susitna Borough
The DEA National Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday, April 25th. There are two drop off locations available in the Susitna Valley from 10am to 2pm - at the Wasilla and Palmer Fred Meyers. All are welcome to drop off unused or expired medications in original packaging or a generic bag, without your personal information. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain tightly sealed in the original container. Syringes and medical waste cannot be accepted. Turning in unused medications reduces prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning, and protects local waterways and the environment. The district is being revived to resume its role in the community with initiatives in salmon and wildlife habitat stewardship, trails, AK agriculture and local food production, invasive species and providing public information. Talkeetna-Trapper Creek Birdathon
The 36th annual Talkeetna-Trapper Creek Birdathon begins Friday May 8th, at 6 pm, and continues until 6 pm on Saturday, May 9th. Area residents and their guests are welcome to participate by identifying as many species of birds as can be found in the count circle during the 24 hour period. You can go birding by yourself or with family or friends, traveling “green” or using a vehicle. Participants gather around a fire in the evening on Saturday, at the end of Christiansen Lake Road. Clean Air Challenge bike ride – American Lung Association
The American Lung Association in Alaska is hosting the 42nd annual Clean Air Challenge bike ride on Saturday, May 9th. The roundtrip ride begins and ends at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. There will be a finish party at 6:00 p.m. at the lodge. Staggered start times are determined by ride distance.
