    Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The music this week is Zen Trembles. This is the last Live at Five for the season.

    Denali Education Center hosts Mushrooms of Alaska, a talk and foray presented by Kate Mohatt and Noah Siegel exploring the wide variety of mushrooms native to the region. All are welcome to attend the lecture at the Susitna Hall in Talkeetna at 11am, followed by a mushroom foray at 1pm on Saturday, August 30th.     Building families through adoption

    Alaska Center for Resource Families is hosting informational sessions about adoption via Zoom.

    Building families through adoption aims to prepare potential adoptive parents for the realities and joys of adoption. All potential adoptive parents are welcome but it is particularly valuable for persons wanting to adopt from Alaska’s foster care system.

    All classes are held from 10 am to 12 pm. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 2nd and ending the 16th.

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction.
