  • Arctic Entries – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council is hosting Arctic Entries at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, January 24th. Seven local storytellers tell true 7-minute stories on the theme of Going Once, Going Twice: Stories of putting yourself on the line, unexpected wins, and near misses.   • Complexities of Love Rehearsals – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council is holding auditions for their annual variety show, Complexities of Love. If you have a talent you’d like to share—dance, music, comedy, poetry, puppetry, or anything else—they’d love to hear from you. Four rehearsals are scheduled on Sundays January 18th through February 8th, from 3 to 5 pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. You must attend one of these rehearsals and audition for Jenny in order to be included in the show.

  • Seeking artists for fiber art show – Denali Arts Council

    Organizers of the second annual Fiber February are seeking fiber artists to show their work at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar for the month of February.     Watercolorist, Miles Bloomfield, is instructing a series of Winter Plein Air Painting classes. Classes are from 1 to 4pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar each Tuesday in the month of January. This is an outdoor painting class, so participants should dress for the weather. If temperatures are too cold, the class will be held indoors. All supplies are provided. Sign up is available at denaliartscouncil.org. Drop-ins are welcome if space allows.

  • Winter Speaker Series Event – Susitna River Coalition

    The Susitna River Coalition is hosting a live virtual event in their Winter Speaker Series on Thursday, January 29th at 6:30 PM, streaming on Zoom and Facebook Live. The topic is Alaska's Energy Landscape: past, present and future. Presenters are Doug Johnson of ORPC Alaska on the topic of emerging renewable energy technologies, followed by Dr. Philip Wight of UAF, exploring the history of electrification in Alaska’s Railbelt—and how past decisions still shape the future of Alaskans.
