Talkeetna Ice Festival – Saturday, February 7th
The Talkeetna Ice Festival continues on Saturday, February 7th. The events include the ice carving competition in the park, races on Main Street and a chili cookoff. At 7pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar is the Northern Aspects Film Festival, showcasing the best independent ski and ride films of Alaska. Ice Rink repair and maintenance
Jack McDonald Ice RinkThe ice at Jack MacDonald Ice Rink at Talkeetna Elementary School will be getting significant repair and maintenance on Saturday, February 7th. Please be respectful of any posted signage and stay off the ice if it is not completely frozen. Skating and/or walking on unfrozen ice can damage it.

Financial Aid Resource Fair – Mat-Su College
Mat-Su CollegeMat-Su College is hosting a Financial Aid Resource Fair at their campus on College Drive in Palmer on Saturday, February 7th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be help for completing the application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), information on scholarships and advice on funding post-secondary education. Campus tours will also be available. Take Your Child to the Library Day – Talkeetna Public Library
Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaThe Friends of the Talkeetna Library host Take Your Child to the Library Day at the Talkeetna Public Library on Saturday, February 7th from 11am until 4pm. Kids can sign up for their own library card, learn how to use the library with a scavenger hunt, create a Valentine's craft, and do a science experiment that yields a sweet treat. Refreshments and snacks will be available. There is also be a book fair at the library through Saturday, a portion of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Talkeetna Library and towards the purchase of new material for the community. Ice Carving Workshop
Sheldon Community Arts HangarDenali Arts Council is offering an ice carving workshop with Professional Ice Sculptor, Tommy Salami. on Sunday, February 8th. In the workshop you will carve a 10lb block of ice into a masterpiece that you get to take home. Ice and tools will be provided. This workshop will be held outside at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, so dress warmly. There are 2 sessions to choose between: 11am-1pm and 2-4 pm. The Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts the annual Poker Ski, a 7.5ish mile ski from the Flying Squirrel Bakery and Cafe to Denali BrewPub, downtown. This ski begins at 12pm from the Flying Squirrel and is fun for all ages.

Complexities of Love Rehearsals – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarThe variety show, Complexities of Love, is February 13th and 14th and Denali Arts Council is looking for performers. If you have a talent you’d like to share—dance, music, singing, comedy, poetry, puppetry, or anything else—they’d love to hear from you. The final rehearsal and audition is on Sunday, February 8th, from 3 to 5pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. You must audition for Jenny in order to be included in the show.
