    AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 9th. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 26th, March 12th, March 26th, and April 9th. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at Houston City Hall.

    The Su-Valley Parent-Teacher-Student Association is hosting a fundraising silent auction during the Crowley Basketball Tournament at the Su-Valley Jr/Sr High School. The auction opens today and closes around 3 pm on Saturday the 14th. The auction includes items donated by local businesses and individuals from across the Northern Susitna Valley. The games started Thursday run through Saturday, February 15th with the final games scheduled at 3:00 and 4:30 pm. For the complete game schedule visit the school's Facebook page:.     Unleash the Power of Your Library Card is a new drop in session at Talkeetna Public Library. Card holders are invited to drop by Saturday, February 15th anytime between 1 and 4pm to learn how to access the special features that your library card has to offer. This includes access to Alaska and national newspapers and magazines, putting library items from around the state on hold; renewing items, and accessing digital and audio books.

    Please be sure your library card is current and you know your pin number. The librarians can help you with this if needed.

    Lisa Roderick, Talkeetna resident and long time Denali basecamp manager hosts a book signing, reading, and Q&A celebrating the release of her new book, A Place Among Giants on Sunday, January 26th from 4 to 6 pm, at Flying Squirrel Bakery Café. Her book tells the story of the joys, drama, and tragedies she experienced while living through more than two decades of Denali history as Base Camp Manager. Attendees may purchase a book, have one signed by the author herself, and ask questions about the process and her fascinating job.
