Ice Rink Closure
Jack McDonald Ice RinkThe Jack MacDonald Ice Rink at Talkeetna Elementary School will be closed for skating beginning on Wednesday, February 12th through the evening of Sunday February 16th, in order to prepare and maintain the ice for a curling bonspiel.

Su Valley PTSA Fundraiser & Crowley Basketball Tournament
Su Valley Jr/Sr High SchoolThe Su-Valley Parent-Teacher-Student Association is hosting a fundraising silent auction during the Crowley Basketball Tournament at the Su-Valley Jr/Sr High School. The auction opens today and closes around 3 pm on Saturday the 14th. The auction includes items donated by local businesses and individuals from across the Northern Susitna Valley. The games started Thursday run through Saturday, February 15th with the final games scheduled at 3:00 and 4:30 pm. For the complete game schedule visit the school's Facebook page:. Talkeetna Bonspiel – Talkeetna Youth Hockey Association
Jack McDonald Ice RinkTalkeetna Youth Hockey Association hosts the 6th Annual Talkeetna Bonspiel on Friday, February 14th through Sunday, February 16th at the Jack McDonald Ice Rink. The curling competitions are open for public spectators. More information at talkeetnacurling.org. The rink is closed for public skating through February 16th, in order to prepare and maintain the ice.

Yarn Swap – Denali Arts Council
Talkeetna RoadhouseDenali Arts Council is hosting a yarn Swap at the Talkeetna Roadhouse Saturday, February 15th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm as part of Fiber February. This is a great way to de-stash if yarn is taking over your house or to pick up yarn if your stash needs replenishing. Yarn and knitting or crocheting supplies are welcome.

Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaUnleash the Power of Your Library Card is a new drop in session at Talkeetna Public Library. Card holders are invited to drop by Saturday, February 15th anytime between 1 and 4pm to learn how to access the special features that your library card has to offer. This includes access to Alaska and national newspapers and magazines, putting library items from around the state on hold; renewing items, and accessing digital and audio books.
Please be sure your library card is current and you know your pin number. The librarians can help you with this if needed.

A Place Among Giants: Book Signing with Lisa Roderick
Flying Squirrel Bakery & CafeLisa Roderick, Talkeetna resident and long time Denali basecamp manager hosts a book signing, reading, and Q&A celebrating the release of her new book, A Place Among Giants on Sunday, January 26th from 4 to 6 pm, at Flying Squirrel Bakery Café. Her book tells the story of the joys, drama, and tragedies she experienced while living through more than two decades of Denali history as Base Camp Manager. Attendees may purchase a book, have one signed by the author herself, and ask questions about the process and her fascinating job.

AARP Tax Assistance appointments
Houston City Hall 13878 Armstrong Rd,, Wasilla, AK, United StatesAARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Houston City Hall from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 2nd. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 2nd. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.
