    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

  • Susitna River Coalition Speaker Event

    The Susitna River Coalition is hosting a winter speaker series event Thursday, February 27th at 6PM. The topic is Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). This process has been used for decades to capture CO₂ from smokestacks and inject it underground, yet it has not lived up to expectations. Erin McKittrick, a data analyst, writer, and wilderness adventurer from Seldovia, Alaska, will present on how CCS works, its limitations, and the risks of relying on it for climate solutions. You are invited to tune in for this presentation on Zoom and FacebookLive.

    The last home basketball games of the season at Susitna Valley High School are today (Friday, February 28th). Jr. Varsity games start at 3:30pm and Varsity begin at 6:30 pm, starting with girls then boys.

    Talkeetna Community Schools is showing the PG-rated movie; IF on Friday, February 28th at  Talkeetna Elementary School. Doors open at 6:45, the movie begins at 7pm.

  • Krew Feud – Talkeetna Skatepark Committee

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee presents: Krew Feud, a family-friendly live game show fundraiser in the style of Family Feud.  The event is Saturday, March 1st at 6pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. There is a suggested donation. All raised funds to go towards the construction of the Talkeetna Skatepark.

  • Matt Heckler NORTH Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts a concert with Matt Heckler on Sunday, March 2nd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Matt is a multi-instrumentalist known for his raw, soulful take on Appalachian and early bluegrass music, with influences from Eastern Europe and Ireland. He has toured with bands like Devil Makes Three, Lost Dog Street Band, and Flogging Molly. Doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7pm. More information at denaliartscouncil.org

  • AARP Tax Assistance appointments

    AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Houston City Hall from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 2nd. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 2nd. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.
