  • Annual Kindergarten Meet and Greet – Talkeetna Elementary School

    Talkeetna Elementary School hosts the Annual Kindergarten Meet and Greet for all prospective students and their parents on Wednesday, May 7th from 10:15 until 11:00am, in the Kindergarten Classroom #135. The Meet and Greet is for students entering Kindergarten for the 2025/2026 school year. Students must be turning 5 years old on or before September 1st, 2025.     There will be curling Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Talkeetna Elementary Jack MacDonald Ice Rink. There will be draws at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. Registration and more information at talkeetnacurling.org.

  • Pressure Canner Gauge Testing

    The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is offering Pressure Canner Gauge Testing today (Thursday, May 8th). They will be at the Talkeetna Public Library from 1 to 4pm. All are welcome to bring a pressure canner dial gauge in for a test to make sure it is accurate and functioning properly. New or unused gauges should be tested before first use. Questions may be directed to to Melissa Clampitt at mrclampitt@alaska.edu.

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

  • Addiction Recovery Group – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month, the next one being on May 8th. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction. An assessment is required before joining, to schedule you may call (907) 733-9292.

  • Musical Showcase – Su Valley Band Lab

    Local students with the afterschool program, Su Valley Band Lab, will be showcasing their new found skills with support from the band Wasteland Hop at Su Valley Jr./Sr. High School on Friday, May 9th. Doors open at 6:30pm and the showcase starts at 7pm. All are welcome to attend.

    Talkeetna Community Schools hosts Family Movie Night at Talkeetna Elementary School on Friday, May 9th. They are showing the PG-rated movie; Earth to Echo. Doors open at 6:45pm, the movie starts at 7pm.

  • Yard Sale

    There will be a multi-family yard sale on Saturday, May 10th from 10:00AM until 5:00PM at Mile 7.9 of the Talkeetna Spur Road. Look for the inflatable palm tree.

  • Alaskan author Eowyn Ivey – Willow Public Library

    Alaskan author Eowyn Ivey will share her recently published book, Black Woods Blue Sky, on Saturday, May 10th at 2 pm in the Willow Public Library meeting room. All are welcome.

  • Wasteland Hop Concert – Denali Arts Counci

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Wasteland Hop will be perform at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, May 10th. Out of Fort Collins, Colorado, Wasteland Hop plays a soulful and unique blend of folk, rock, and hip-hop. This is an all ages show. Doors open at 6:30pm and the music starts at 7pm. Tickets available at denaliartscouncil.org.

  • Mother’s Day Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council's Music Academy presents a Mother's Day Concert with the Rhythm and Red Shoe Ensemble, Desperate Measures and the Community Choir on Sunday, May 11th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Doors open at 3:30pm, and the concert begins at 4pm.

  • Talkeetna Trail Race Sponsorship

    There are sponsorship opportunities available for the 2025 Talkeetna Trail Race. This is a 25k, and 5k race in September which supports Talkeetna Elementary PTA's Healthy Lifestyles and Artist in Residence programs.
