    Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The musician this week is Ukulele Russ.

  • Art Opening – Bear Necessities Coalition – Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe

    Flying Squirrel Bakery & Cafe

    The Bear Necessities Coalition hosts a bear themed art opening at Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe on Saturday, June 7th from 3 to 5pm. The art will remain on the walls for the month of June. Bear art submissions are currently being accepted, if you would like to submit some art you may email Wendy at wjb@mtaonline.net. Proceeds support the Bear Necessities Coalition.

  • Denali Rescue Volunteers Event

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    There is a fundraising event for Denali Rescue Volunteers at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, June 7th at 7pm. Roger Robinson presents Denali South Buttress Climbs, as a tribute to Denali’s volunteer rescue legacy. Talkeetna’s Roger Robinson will recount his 1975 climb of Denali’s remote South Buttress—a journey that launched his 45-year career in the Alaska Range. The talk includes rare photos and audio from the original 1954 ascent and rescue and Denali’s first helicopter evacuation. There will be door prizes and donations are welcome at the door.

    Trapper Creek Public Library hosts their Summer Reading Program and Lunch on the Lawn at 12:30pm on Wednesdays, through August 6th. Bags of food from the Upper Susitna Food Pantry's Summer Backpack Program are available to pick up between 11 am and 6 pm.     Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

  • Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library

    Talkeetna Public Library Talkeetna

    Storytime at the Talkeetna Public Library for ages 0 to 7 this week starts at 11am. The theme is Stories and Nature, and the kids will be walking the Literary Trail. At noon, Lunch on the Lawn for ages 0 to 18 is provided by the Upper Susitna Food Pantry. Weekly food bags will be available as well. Summer Reading Program begins promptly at 1pm. There will be a guided walk at the Talkeetna Lakes Park. The summer reading incentive program is open to all ages, including adult. You can sign up at the front desk.

  • Addiction Recovery Group – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month. The next meeting is June 12th. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction.
