    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

  • Virtual Foster Parent Forum – Resource Family Advisory Board

    The Resource Family Advisory Board invites licensed foster parents to a virtual Foster Forum on Thursday, August 7th, from 12 to 1 pm. Hosted in partnership with the Alaska Center for Resource Families (ACRF) and the Alaska Office of Children’s Services (OCS), this one-hour forum will include an update from the OCS director, highlighting progress made in response to past family feedback.     Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction.   • Wild Salmon Weekend

    Wild Salmon Weekend

    The Susitna River Coalition (or SRC) invites the public to a Wild Salmon Weekend celebration in Talkeetna.

    • On Saturday, August 9, SRC has arranged for a guided Riverside Nature Hike. Meet at the river area at the end of Main Street at 10am. That evening, at 6 pm, at the Denali Education Center, there is a screening of film The Super Salmon with a community conversation.
    • The Susitna River Coalition and Denali National Park and Preserve are hosting Talkeetna Trail Days on Sunday, August 10th. The volunteer event will take place from 10am to 2 pm along the Talkeetna riverfront and Chase Trail. Volunteers will meet in front of the Walter Harper Talkeetna Ranger Station at 2241 South B Street. Tools and safety gear will be provided.
    • Sunday evening from 5 to 8pm there will be a Wild Salmon Celebration featuring food, community screen printing, and an oral history booth at the Sheldon Community Arts Center.

    Denali Arts Council hosts a Youth Art Show featuring art made during the Upper Susitna Fine Arts Camp on Saturday, August 9th from 3 to 6pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. There will also be a dance performance during the art show, at 5pm.

    Sunshine Community Health Center hosts their 3rd annual Community Celebration on Saturday, August 9th from 10am until 3pm at the Talkeetna Clinic. This event includes a health resource fair, sports physicals and immunizations, mammograms, back to school supplies, live music, food trucks and vendors.
