    The Talkeetna Public Library hosts another session of the afterschool program; The Sizzle & Stir Club beginning on Monday, January 12th. This 7-week long cooking program is open to 4th and 5th graders and homeschool students are welcome. Transportation from Talkeetna Elementary School to the library will be provided by Sunshine Transit.     Strong Women Exercise Group – Talkeetna Public Library

    Strong Women exercise group meet at 10 am at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Zoom option is available. This program is aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility for women over 40 years old. Newcomers are always welcome, weights and instructions are provided.     Winter Plein Air Painting class – Denali Arts Council

    Watercolorist, Miles Bloomfield, is instructing a series of Winter Plein Air Painting classes. Classes are from 1 to 4pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar each Tuesday in the month of January. This is an outdoor painting class, so participants should dress for the weather. If temperatures are too cold, the class will be held indoors. All supplies are provided. Sign up is available at denaliartscouncil.org. Drop-ins are welcome if space allows.

    Talkeetna Public Library's Reading Mentors program is on Tuesdays at 3:15pm. This program is for 1st through 3rd graders and is designed to help new readers get experience and confidence in reading out loud. Transportation from Talkeetna Elementary School to the library will be provided by Sunshine Transit.     Save the date! KTNA hosts our Annual Celebration and Membership Meeting on Saturday, January 17th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Come hungry, we will have a taco bar from 5 to 6:30pm. This year we host a Vinyl Dance Party beginning at 6:30pm, dress up and dance the night away as our DJs spin vinyl records.     Complexities of Love Rehearsals – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council is holding auditions for their annual variety show, Complexities of Love. If you have a talent you’d like to share—dance, music, comedy, poetry, puppetry, or anything else—they’d love to hear from you. Four rehearsals are scheduled on Sundays January 18th through February 8th, from 3 to 5 pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. You must attend one of these rehearsals and audition for Jenny in order to be included in the show.

  • Su Dog 300 mile Sled Dog Race – Volunteers needed

    The Su Dog 300 mile Sled Dog Race is coming back for 2026 and volunteers are needed.  The 300 mile race starts in Willow and does a large loop around the upper Susitna Valley connecting all the communities, including a brand new Talkeetna River checkpoint. The race takes place February 21st - 24th. Volunteering is family friendly and no experience is necessary. Any mobility/accessibility needs will be accommodated.
