  • Winter Speaker Series Event – Susitna River Coalition

    The Susitna River Coalition is hosting a live virtual event in their Winter Speaker Series on Thursday, January 29th at 6:30 PM, streaming on Zoom and Facebook Live. The topic is Alaska's Energy Landscape: past, present and future. Presenters are Doug Johnson of ORPC Alaska on the topic of emerging renewable energy technologies, followed by Dr. Philip Wight of UAF, exploring the history of electrification in Alaska’s Railbelt—and how past decisions still shape the future of Alaskans.

    Denali Arts Council hosts the 5th show of their performing arts season; Choir! Choir! Choir! at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, on Thursday, January 29th This is a fully interactive, participatory show that turns the audience into the performers with a a Queen sing-along.     Denali Arts Council hosts the Kick off party for the Talkeetna Ice Festival on Saturday, January 31st in the Talkeetna Village Park from 1pm to 3pm. All are welcome to cheer on the Ice carvers, and warm up with the Talkeetna Elementary PTA soup sale. Afterwards is a winter formal dance, the Snow Ball, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, beginning at 7pm. There will be a costume contest, a hot cocoa bar, music and dancing.   • 3rd Annual Rich Crain Classic – Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails

    MUTT (Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails) is hosting the 3rd Annual Rich Crain Classic on January 31st at the Comsat trailhead of Talkeetna Lakes Park, beginning at 11am. Participants can choose to skijor, bikejor, ski, mush, kick sled or run and may use 1 human, 1 dog or 2 dog power to follow a 5 or 15 km marked trail. Learn more and sign-up at talkeetnamutt.org.
