    KTNA is hiring! We are currently looking for a full-time News Producer and part-time Development Coordinator. The News Producer writes local stories and oversees the work of staff and volunteer reporters. The Development Coordinator is responsible for KTNA's membership and underwriting programs as well as coordination of events. Find the complete job descriptions at ktna.org.     The Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to pick up students at Talkeetna Elementary School and bring them to the library. Permission slips are required.     KTNA and Su Valley High School are collaborating to start a Radio Journalism Afterschool Club for the remainder of the school year. This Club is open to all Su Valley students, from middle to high school level. The Club will meet every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15pm at Su Valley High School beginning March 4th.     Talkeetna Elementary PTA hosts Competitive Pickleball for knowledgeable players seeking competitive bouts from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesdays. Attendees will rotate through games of four players at a time, equipment is available if you do not have your own. Wednesday evening pickleball is held at Talkeetna Elementary School's gym, play will move outside to the hockey rink when weather and temperatures permit.     We’re taking a trip down memory lane! KTNA is hosting a casual community gathering featuring a screening of the KTNA Millennium Concert from April 22, 2000. This footage was recently digitized, and we are excited to bring it back to the community 26 years after the original performance. We’ll be celebrating with a potluck, you are welcome to bring something to share… or just bring yourself! That’s from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. We look forward to sharing this blast from the past with you all!

  • DEA National Drug Take-Back Day – Matanuska-Susitna Borough

    The DEA National Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday, April 25th. There are two drop off locations available in the Susitna Valley from 10am to 2pm - at the Wasilla and Palmer Fred Meyers. All are welcome to drop off unused or expired medications in original packaging or a generic bag, without your personal information. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain tightly sealed in the original container. Syringes and medical waste cannot be accepted. Turning in unused medications reduces prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning, and protects local waterways and the environment.
