    The Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to transport students from the Talkeetna Elementary School. Permission slips are required.     KTNA and Su Valley High School are collaborating to start a Radio Journalism Afterschool Club for the remainder of the school year. This Club is open to all Su Valley students, from middle to high school level. The Club will meet every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15pm at Su Valley High School beginning March 4th.   • Talkeetna-Trapper Creek Birdathon

    The 36th annual Talkeetna-Trapper Creek Birdathon begins Friday May 8th, at 6 pm, and continues until 6 pm on Saturday, May 9th. Area residents and their guests are welcome to participate by identifying as many species of birds as can be found in the count circle during the 24 hour period. You can go birding by yourself or with family or friends, traveling “green” or using a vehicle. Participants gather around a fire in the evening on Saturday, at the end of Christiansen Lake Road.   • Clean Air Challenge bike ride – American Lung Association

    The American Lung Association in Alaska is hosting the 42nd annual Clean Air Challenge bike ride on Saturday, May 9th. The roundtrip ride begins and ends at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. There will be a finish party at 6:00 p.m. at the lodge. Staggered start times are determined by ride distance.
