  • Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library

    Talkeetna Public Library Talkeetna

    The Talkeetna Public Library hosts the Summer Reading Program weekly on Thursdays at 11am.  At noon, all ages are welcome to have lunch together- on the lawn. Weekly backpacks with breakfasts, lunches, and snacks will be available for pick up for anyone aged 18 and under. If you are unable to pick up your lunch on Thursday between noon and 1, please let the library know and they can hold them for you.     Strong Women exercise group meet at 10 am at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Zoom option is available. This program is aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility for women over 40 years old. Newcomers are always welcome, weights and instructions are provided.     The Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to transport students from the Talkeetna Elementary School. Permission slips are required.   • Kids Softball Game – Upper Susitna Softball Association

    The Upper Susitna Softball Association is hosting a softball game and skills competition this Friday, May 29th starting a 3:30pm at the ball field in Talkeetna. The fun will conclude before Live at 5. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.

  • Live at Five

    Live at Five
    Talkeetna Village Park

    The Denali Arts Council and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, an annual Summer Concert series beginning this Friday, May 17th. The weekly concerts are family-friendly and are every Friday from 5-7 pm at the Talkeetna Village Park. The concerts feature bands from Alaska and the lower 48.   • Emergency Preparedness Fair – CERT

    Willow Community Center

    The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors.   • Volunteer Trail Work Day

    Talkeetna Ridge Trail, Comsat

    There will be a volunteer work day on the Talkeetna Ridge Trail on Saturday, May 30 from 1-5pm. Volunteers will meet at the end of Comsat Road at 1pm. Closed-toed shoes and leather gloves are advised. Hand saws and loppers are needed if you have them. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

    Talkeetna Elementary PTA hosts Pick-Up Basketball for teens and adults, 6th grade and up, at Talkeetna Elementary School's gym on Sundays from 6-8 pm.
