    The Trapper Creek Public Library hosts Plant a Seed, Read a summer reading program with lunch on Wednesdays at the library. This program is for children of all ages. Lunch is at 12:30pm followed by reading activities from 1 to 2pm. Backpack meals to go are available anytime on Wednesday. For more information, call the library at 907-861-7650.

  • Super Spruce trees available

    If you are interested in planting an Arthur Mannix Super Spruce tree, there are 60+ trees that are now 10 inches tall and need to be planted this summer. Please contact Marissa at 907-203-1978 for more information and to pick up a tree.

    Strong Women exercise group meet at 10 am at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Zoom option is available. This program is aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility for women over 40 years old. Newcomers are always welcome, weights and instructions are provided.     The Talkeetna Public Library hosts the Summer Reading Program weekly on Thursdays at 11am.  This week, run Away with the Spectacular Green Light Circus. At noon, all ages are welcome to have lunch together- on the lawn. Weekly backpacks with breakfasts, lunches, and snacks will be available for pick up for anyone aged 18 and under. If you are unable to pick up your lunch on Thursday between noon and 1, please let the library know and they can hold them for you.     Professional teaching artist, Denise Iacovone is offering 3 art workshops this summer at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.
    The first is a Contour Line Drawing Workshop. Participants will learn how to work in contour line, creating multiple experimental drawings in a studio setting. This two-day workshop is on Friday, June 26th, and Monday, June 29th.

  • Live at Five

    The Denali Arts Council and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, an annual Summer Concert series beginning this Friday, May 17th. The weekly concerts are family-friendly and are every Friday from 5-7 pm at the Talkeetna Village Park. The concerts feature bands from Alaska and the lower 48.   • Community Yard Sale Fundraiser – Talkeetna Skatepark

    A community yard sale will be held at the Talkeetna Gear Shop on Saturday, June 27th. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Talkeetna Skatepark. Donated items of all types can be brought to the Gear Shop through June 26th. The Gear Shop is open from 10am to 6pm every day, and is located across from K2 Aviation, on Second Street in Talkeetna.

    Mountain High Pizza Pie

    The band Triple Black Diamonds perform as part of a campaign to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis on Saturday, June 27th starting at 7pm at Mountain High Pizza in Talkeetna. You can learn more about their campaign with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society online.

    Denali Arts Council host a Roustabout Show on Sunday, June 28th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.
    The 2026 Green Light Circus instructors will showcase their talents for the public. Doors open at 2:30 and the show will begin at 3:00pm. Donations are welcome.

    The Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to transport students from the Talkeetna Elementary School. Permission slips are required.   • Improvisational Painting and Music, Art Workshop – Denali Arts Council

    Professional teaching artist, Denise Iacovone is offering 3 art workshops this summer at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.
    The second workshop is Improvisational Painting and Music: Making the Invisible Visible. Participants will learn to listen to, identify, and express live music using watercolors and colored pencils. They will strive to capture the essence of the music as we work with the Talkeetna Jazz Orchestra during dress rehearsal and their concert performance. Two-Day Workshop July 1, 4:30 pm- 7:30 pm and July 2, 6 pm- 9 pm.

    Denali Arts Council presents a jazz performance featuring Maestro Rocco John Iacovone /E-ya-ka-vone-ay/ and local Jazz Workshop participates on Thursday, July 2nd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Rocco is a composer, musician, teaching-artist  and plays Alto and Soprano Saxophones and Piano. Doors at 6:30pm and music at 7pm. Tickets are available at denaliartscouncil.org
