Strong Women exercise group meet at 10 am at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Zoom option is available. This program is aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility for women over 40 years old. Newcomers are always welcome, weights and instructions are provided. Talkeetna Recycling is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the Talkeetna Transfer station. Cardboard recycling is available on Saturdays only. They are always looking for volunteers. To learn more, call Cici at (907)355-8324 and visit their Facebook Page.

The Talkeetna Public Library hosts a weekly afterschool program called Reading Tuesdays. Students are welcome to come and read, work on homework or a craft, and spend time with friends from 3:15 until 5pm every Tuesday. Sunshine Transit is available to transport students from the Talkeetna Elementary School. Permission slips are required. The Trapper Creek Public Library hosts Plant a Seed, Read a summer reading program with lunch on Wednesdays at the library. This program is for children of all ages. Lunch is at 12:30pm followed by reading activities from 1 to 2pm. Backpack meals to go are available anytime on Wednesday. For more information, call the library at 907-861-7650.

The Talkeetna Public Library hosts the Summer Reading Program weekly on Thursdays at 11am.  At noon, all ages are welcome to have lunch together- on the lawn. Weekly backpacks with breakfasts, lunches, and snacks will be available for pick up for anyone aged 18 and under. If you are unable to pick up your lunch on Thursday between noon and 1, please let the library know and they can hold them for you. The Denali Arts Council and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, an annual Summer Concert series beginning this Friday, May 17th. The weekly concerts are family-friendly and are every Friday from 5-7 pm at the Talkeetna Village Park. The concerts feature bands from Alaska and the lower 48.
