    Talkeetna Recycling is on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 12 to 4pm. There has been a lot of bee activity at recycling recently. The recycling team warns you to be very careful when on the ramp. If you are allergic to bees, please try to stay away until after a freeze.

    Denali Arts Council hosts Sip 'n' Swap, Not Shop, a clothing, books, and reusable items swap, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, September 14th from 2 to 5pm. All are welcome to bring freshly laundered clothing, books and usable items in great condition to swap with something new to you. Beverages will be available for purchase, please bring a snack to share.

    Building families through adoption

    Alaska Center for Resource Families is hosting informational sessions about adoption via Zoom.

    Building families through adoption aims to prepare potential adoptive parents for the realities and joys of adoption. All potential adoptive parents are welcome but it is particularly valuable for persons wanting to adopt from Alaska’s foster care system.

    All classes are held from 10 am to 12 pm. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 2nd and ending the 16th.

    There is a Community Song Circle held at Denali Education Center's Talkeetna Campus, Susitna Hall, each Wednesday from 6:30 to 8pm. The next one is on September 17th. This is a non-performable group, skill and experience is not required. All ages are welcome to attend, the goal is to simply have fun singing with others.     Denali Education Center hosts Erica Watson, a Denali-based writer, with her presentation; Only a Visitor: Tourism and Home from Svalbard and Denali. Erica will share writing and reflections on tourism, sustainability, and belonging—drawing from twenty years of living at Denali National Park and an artist residency sailing in the High Arctic. This presentation is on Thursday, September 18th at the Susitna Hall in Talkeetna, beginning at 7pm.

    On Friday, September 19th, Denali Arts Council is presenting emerging Alaskan voices. Six talented writers will share their work, from poetry to prose. Some are current University of Alaska creative writing students, others are published authors and former students now doing interesting things with their lives.     The Mat-Su Borough hosts the 17th Annual Emergency Preparedness Expo on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Menard Sports Center, located at 1001 S Clapp Street, Wasilla. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and features over 90 indoor and outdoor exhibitors, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations focused on emergency readiness.
