Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library
Talkeetna Public Library TalkeetnaThe Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm today (Thursday). This week, Geologist Greg will be showing his new rock polisher and also talking about volcanoes. All are welcome to come and blow up a small volcano. The final day of the program is next week on August 7th. Reading logs are due by noon that day for participants to be eligible for the prize drawings, you can also call in your totals. Talkeetna Community Council seeking a board member
The Talkeetna Community Council is currently looking to fill one vacant Board member seat. Interested candidates can submit a Declaration of Candidacy available at talkeetnacouncil.org. The elected candidate will sit on the Board until the next election cycle in November. The candidate is required to live within the Talkeetna Community Council area; the map available on the council's website. Candidates will be accepted until the next meeting on August 4th at which the vote will take place.

Virtual Foster Parent Forum – Resource Family Advisory Board
The Resource Family Advisory Board invites licensed foster parents to a virtual Foster Forum on Thursday, August 7th, from 12 to 1 pm. Wild Salmon Weekend
The Susitna River Coalition (or SRC) invites the public to a Wild Salmon Weekend celebration in Talkeetna.
- On Saturday, August 9, SRC has arranged for a guided Riverside Nature Hike. Meet at the river area at the end of Main Street at 10am. That evening, at 6 pm, at the Denali Education Center, there is a screening of film The Super Salmon with a community conversation.
- The Susitna River Coalition and Denali National Park and Preserve are hosting Talkeetna Trail Days on Sunday, August 10th. The volunteer event will take place from 10am to 2 pm along the Talkeetna riverfront and Chase Trail. Volunteers will meet in front of the Walter Harper Talkeetna Ranger Station at 2241 South B Street. Tools and safety gear will be provided.
- Sunday evening from 5 to 8pm there will be a Wild Salmon Celebration featuring food, community screen printing, and an oral history booth at the Sheldon Community Arts Center.

Sheldon Community Arts HangarDenali Arts Council hosts a Youth Art Show featuring art made during the Upper Susitna Fine Arts Camp on Saturday, August 9th from 3 to 6pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. There will also be a dance performance during the art show, at 5pm.
