    The Friends of the Talkeetna Library host computer classes every 2nd and 4th Friday from 1 to 3pm at the Talkeetna Public Library through May 8th.   • Raising Spirits Festival – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council presents their annual fundraiser, Raising Spirits, on Saturday, February 28th from 4 to 7pm. This elegant event features artisan-crafted cocktails from five Alaskan distilleries, catered food, aerial performances, and a silent auction. Proceeds raised will support the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar and the Emmila A. Denny Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available at denaliartscouncil.org.

    Talkeetna Library hosts the Teen Page to Screen book club on Saturday, February 28th at 6pm. They are discussing the book; The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness and watching the movie based on this book; Chaos Walking. Snacks and treats will be served. This 7-week long cooking program is open to 4th and 5th graders and homeschool students are welcome. Transportation from Talkeetna Elementary School to the library will be provided by Sunshine Transit.     Talkeetna Public Library's Reading Mentors program is on Tuesdays at 3:15pm. This program is for 1st through 3rd graders and is designed to help new readers get experience and confidence in reading out loud. Transportation from Talkeetna Elementary School to the library will be provided by Sunshine Transit.     Volunteers with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program will be available to help community members with preparing and filing income taxes. Preparation will happen on Wednesdays, beginning February 4th, alternating each week between the Houston City Hall and the Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center.
